Three sections that get harder, not three equal texts
Section one is social survival: notices, adverts, timetables — short texts where the difficulty is finding one fact among many, fast. Section two is workplace material. Section three is a single long general-interest text, and it is the part that most resembles the Academic paper. The three are not interchangeable, and treating them as one long reading is how candidates lose easy marks at the start.
Because section one is scanning rather than reading, it rewards a different habit: knowing what a timetable, a refund policy or a membership notice normally contains, so you can go straight to the line that answers the question. That familiarity comes from reading a lot of ordinary text in English, not from academic articles.
