LingoRead ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:

Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
Usage Data: Information about your learning progress, vocabulary lists, and interactions with the app.
Payment Information: We do not store your financial data. All payments are processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com.

We use the information we collect to:

Personalize your learning experience (e.g., generating relevant stories).

Service Providers: Third-party vendors who help us provide our services (e.g., hosting, AI processing, payment processing via Paddle).

5. Cookies and Analytics

We also count daily page views by screen category using a first-party aggregate counter. It does not use cookies or visitor identifiers, link visits to accounts, or store query strings and referrers. This basic counter operates independently of optional analytics consent. On our marketing pages (the home page, pricing, blog, free tools, exam guides and these legal pages) we measure which content actually helps people find LingoRead. We use PostHog for product analytics and Google Analytics for acquisition.

The first time you visit, a small banner asks whether analytics may use storage on your device. Until you answer, the Google tag sets no cookies and sends only limited, cookieless signals. If you decline, that cookieless state stays in place, PostHog stops capturing, and session recording is stopped. Advertising storage and personalised advertising are disabled under either answer, because this site runs no advertising or remarketing.

Inside the app (your dashboard, passages, boxes, notes and settings) Google Analytics does not run at all. PostHog product analytics does, so that we can see where the product itself is confusing or broken. Session recording masks every input field, and network request bodies and headers are never recorded, so your passages, notes and account credentials are not captured.

Your answer is stored in your browser's local storage under lingoread_analytics_consent, not on our servers. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser and answer the banner again.

6. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You can manage your account settings within the app or contact us for assistance.
