Five parts, five different reading jobs
The module moves through a blog entry judged true or false, multiple choice on two press texts, a matching task where adverts and announcements have to be paired with situations, a set of statements you judge against a person’s stated view, and finally rules, regulations and instructions. That last part is the one candidates underestimate: administrative German has its own vocabulary and its own sentence shapes, and almost nobody reads it for pleasure.
You may work the parts in any order, and no dictionary or phone is allowed. Taken together those two rules reward a very specific preparation: recognising, within a few seconds, which kind of text you are looking at, so you can spend your time on the parts that reward care and move fast through the ones that do not.
